Each system has its advantages. This comparison helps you choose by number of floors, space and use.
Hydraulic elevator
Moves with an oil-driven piston. Suits short travel and few floors, rides smoothly and needs space for the pump unit.
Electric elevator (traction or MRL)
Moves with a machine and ropes or belts. Suits more floors and higher speeds, with lower energy use under frequent operation.
How to choose
- Two or three floors, family use: both work well
- More than three floors: electric is usually better
- Limited space, no machine room: MRL or a platform lift
- Kuwait heat: we plan ventilation for the pump unit or machine
Maintenance for both types
A hydraulic elevator needs checks on oil, leaks and the pump unit; an electric one on ropes or belts, brakes and machine. Both last many years with regular maintenance — what matters is a company experienced in the type you choose.
FAQ
Which is quieter?
Modern models of both types are quiet; gearless electric is very quiet.
